Kauket
Egyptian · deity · primordial · deity
Kauket brings in the night as Kek brings in the light, which between them makes the pair a complete day rather than an unrelieved dark. It is a neat piece of theology: the quality that precedes creation is not abolished by creation but redistributed into its rhythm, so that the darkness before the first morning becomes the darkness of every evening after.
