Kek
Egyptian · deity · primordial · deity
Kek is the dark before there was anything to be dark. His epithet is the interesting part: he is called the bringer-in of the light, because the darkness he embodies is the hour before dawn rather than an enemy of dawn — the Ogdoad is not a set of adversaries but a description of the condition out of which the sun first came. The modern internet has attached this god to something else entirely; the record here is the Hermopolitan one.
