Kebechet

Kebechet is a jug of cold water, deified. The Egyptian funerary offering formula is bread, beer, oxen, fowl — and cool water, poured out, which in a hot country for a body being desiccated is not a small courtesy. She is the water: a serpent goddess whose name comes from the verb for cooling and libating, daughter of the embalmer and his consort, working in the family business. Qebehsenuef, one of the four sons, is named from the same root — 'he who cools his brothers'.
