Neper

Neper is what is in the granary. He is drawn with grains marked on his body, he dies when the crop is cut and comes back when it is sown, and that pattern made him easy to fold into the Osiris material — the dead god who is also the seed is one of the oldest ideas Egypt has, and the 'corn mummies' packed with sprouting barley are it made literal. He has a female counterpart, Nepit, which is the ordinary Egyptian way of saying that a thing is complete.
