Quartigod son of Pelias by Anaxibia; Argonaut and Calydonian-Boar hunter. After Medea tricked his sisters into dismembering Pelias, expelled Jason and Medea from Iolcus and acceded to the Iolcian kingship; instituted the canonical-Greek funeral games for Pelias attended by most of the surviving heroic-age figures. Purified Peleus of the accidental killing of Eurytion; his wife Astydameia fell in love with Peleus and falsely accused him after rejection. Took Peleus hunting on Pelion and abandoned him sword-less to be killed by centaurs; Chiron restored Peleus's sword. Peleus returned with Jason and the Dioscuri to sack Iolcus, killed Astydameia and dismembered her. His son Thessalus succeeded him and gave his name to Thessaly per the canonical eponymic-tradition.
