Half-Olympian son of Poseidon by Tyro; usurper-king of Iolcus. Sent his nephew Jason on the Argonautic expedition for the Golden Fleece in hope that Jason would die. Killed when Medea tricked his daughters into dismembering and boiling him on the false promise of rejuvenation.
