Mortal princess of Aethiopia (typically located at Joppa, modern Jaffa, in Greek tradition); daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Chained to a sea-cliff as sacrifice to Cetus to atone for her mother's boast that Cassiopeia's beauty surpassed the Nereids; rescued by Perseus on his return from slaying Medusa. Mother of Electryon (Heracles's grandfather) and six other children by Perseus per Apollod. 2.4.5. Catasterized as the constellation Andromeda.
