Muse of history (in the differentiated classical attribution); one of the nine Mousai daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. Mother of Hyacinthus by the mortal Pierus per Apollodorus 1.3.3 — the union framed as Aphrodite's punishment for Clio's mockery of the Adonis-affair.
