Demigod by descent — son of Ilus, king of Troy, the proverbial oath-breaker. Apollo and Poseidon built the walls of Troy for him in a year of servitude; he cheated them of their wage and was punished with plague and a sea-monster, then cheated Heracles of the immortal horses promised for saving Hesione. Heracles sacked Troy and killed him with all his sons but the ransomed Podarces, who became Priam. Father of Priam, Tithonus, Hesione, and Hicetaon.
