Demigod by descent — eponymous founder of Ilios/Ilion (Troy proper), son of Tros, elder brother of Assaracus and Ganymede. Won a wrestling prize and an oracular dappled cow, founding the city where she lay; received the sky-fallen Palladium of Athena, the talisman guarding the city. His tomb stood on the plain of Troy (a landmark in the Iliad). Father of Laomedon, and so grandfather of Priam.
