Naiad-nymph of the Laconian town of Pitane and daughter of the river Eurotas. By Poseidon she bore the violet-haired Evadne, whom she concealed and sent to Arcadia to be reared by Aepytus (Pindar, Olympian 6). She is the Pitana named in the registry Evadne entry. Mother of the registered figure greek_evadne_iamus, whose maternity was previously unrecorded.
