Ashwatthama

Hindu · mortal · epic period · mortal

vitalStatus is 'living'. The tradition holds that he is cursed to wander the earth until the end of the age, and he is the epic's one genuinely unfinished figure; recording him as deceased would contradict the story the corpus is indexing. TYPE CORRECTED UNDER TEST: he was first authored as 'demigod', on the strength of the sources making him a combined incarnation of Shiva, Yama, Kama and Krodha. npm test rejected it as tier-classification drift — this corpus computes the tier from descent, and both his parents are mortals in this batch, so the pipeline computes 'mortal' and an authored 'demigod' is a divergence the suite counts. The corpus's own rule wins; the incarnation claim stays in the lifecycle, where it is a statement about him rather than a claim about his parentage.
