Drona

He is the connective tissue of the epic's first half — every warrior on both sides is his pupil — and the registry held the pupils and not him. His feud with Drupada, which the corpus could already have supported since it holds both Drupada and Dhrishtadyumna, is not written here: the treatments consulted give the teaching, the marriage, the command and the fall, and not the feud.
