Pariacaca is the supreme deity of the Huarochirí highlands, worshipped as a five-peaked snow mountain and as the divine ancestor of the Yauyos peoples. He came into being on the mountain Condorcoto as five eggs, which hatched into five falcons and then took shape as five brothers understood to be a single god. As lord of rain, rivers, and hail he waged a great struggle against the ancient fire deity Huallallo Carhuincho, quenching his fires with red and yellow floods and driving him out to the Anti lowlands. He fell in love with the maiden Chuquisuso, enlarging her irrigation canal in exchange for her favor, and fathered warrior sons, among them Tutayquiri and Macahuisa. Sources treat him as the sibling of the goddess Chaupiñamca, together forming the male and female poles of regional worship.
