Tutayquire is the foremost warrior son of Pariacaca, celebrated for the conquest of the lower coastal valleys. Descending like an irresistible torrent through the Mala, Lurin, and Rimac drainages, he subdued the yunca inhabitants and extended his father's domain toward the sea. His conquest was checked at the boundary of the Allauca lands when a sister of the local people came out to meet him naked, exposing herself; captivated, he halted, and there his advance stopped, fixing the frontier between highland and coastal peoples. He is remembered as the divine ancestor and war-leader of several Huarochirí groups, and his onrush marks the mythic charter by which highland lineages claimed rights over conquered lowland territory.
