Wigan is among the most frequently invoked names in Ifugao myth and ritual. As a god he grants good harvests; in the deluge myth recorded by Beyer, he and his sister Bugan alone survive the great flood on the mountains Amuyao and Kalawitan, marry with the gods' blessing, and become the first ancestors of the Ifugao, settling the village of Kiyyangan near present-day Kiangan.
