Oreame is arguably the most powerful presence in the Ozidi Saga, a witch and mistress of medicines who is the mother of Orea and the maternal grandmother of the hero. She engineers Ozidi's fortification, summoning smiths and musicians from the earth, procuring charms, and flying beside him to revive and prod him through combat after combat. Scholars read her as the embodiment of fate and driving conscience in the epic. She meets her end when, in the delirium of Ozidi's greatest fights, the hero cuts her down by accident.
