Historical king of Dál nAraide (one of the Cruthin kingdoms of Ulster); reigned late 6th-early 7th century CE; killed in battle at Cúil Cael 626 CE per the Irish annals. Husband of Caintigern, legal father of Mongán mac Fíachnai. Campaigned in Scotland alongside Áedán mac Gabráin of Dál Riata; the Compert Mongáin places the Manannán-Caintigern bargain during one such Scottish campaign.
