Saint Patrick
Irish · mortal · early christian · mortal
THIS RECORD IS THE PATRICK OF THE FENIAN CYCLE AND SAYS SO. The historical Patrick — the Confessio, the Letter to Coroticus, the fifth century, the question of how many Patricks there were — is not on it, because the treatments consulted are treatments of Irish legendary material and not of him. He is ingested under the Irish tradition key and at era `early-christian`, which the corpus registers and which held nothing, because the role he plays here is a role inside this literature: the listener the pagan past is explained to. A later pass with hagiographical sources could deepen the record; it should not have to create it.
