Takamimusubi

Musubi is the hard word here and it has no English equivalent: it is the force by which things come into being and are tied to one another, and it is the reason the same syllable appears in the word for a knot and in the name of the deity of marriage-ties. Two of the first five kami are musubi deities, which places generation itself at the top of the Shinto cosmology — before any god who does anything. Takamimusubi reappears later as one of the powers directing the descent to earth, which makes him the most active of the five.
