Seta
Kalenjin · deity · primordial · Recorded classification
Seta is the divine consort of Tororut in Pokot (Suk) mythology, identified with the Pleiades. The heliacal rising and setting of the Pleiades governed the pastoral and cultivating seasons of the Kalenjin peoples, and her marriage to the creator makes her the mother of the sky-family: Arawa the moon, Topogh the evening star, Ilat the rain, and the Kokel or stars. She is remembered as one of the wholly benevolent deities of the Suk heaven.
