Seven Death is the junior of the two supreme lords of the K'iche' underworld, always named with his senior partner One Death. Together they preside over the terraced realm of Xibalba and its lesser demon-lords of sickness, blood, and decay. The pair engineer the deadly ordeals that kill One Hunahpu and Seven Hunahpu, but their pride becomes their downfall when the Hero Twins, disguised as wandering performers, sacrifice and revive volunteers before them. Eager to experience the marvel themselves, the two death lords ask to be killed, and the twins oblige without restoring them, so ending the unchecked dominion of Xibalba and decreeing that thereafter its lords may claim only the wicked and the wounded.
