Yatá

Sioux/Lakota · deity · second world · deity

Yatá, the North Wind, is the firstborn of the Four Winds (Tȟaté Tób), sons of Tȟaté and Ité, but lost the birthright of the eldest to Eyá. His quarter is the cold North; the corpus prose for Tȟaté equates this North Wind with Wazíya, the icy giant of the north, an identification kept here as an alt name.
