Anikê is the least narratively developed of the three Macuxi hero brothers, but he is consistently and specifically named in the ethnographic record: the old Macuxi songs (erenkon) are described as the songs 'of Makunaima, Anikê and Insikiran'. He thus belongs, with his brothers, to the founding generation of sons of the Sun from whom the Macuxi trace their origin.
