Banlak is a brother of the hero Agyu in the Ulahingan and a warrior of the migrating community. In the Livunganen-Arumanen recitation he is the husband of Mungan, whose miraculous cure and deathlessness set the epic in motion. Like the rest of Agyu's kin he shares in the wandering, the battles against pursuing enemies, and ultimately the ascent to the sky-land of the immortals.
