Tane (the pan-Polynesian Tane/Kane) appears in the Marquesan high pantheon as the brother of Atea: in a Hiva Oa tradition 'Atea and Tāne are brothers, the sons of Toho' (Tohetika). Handy notes that, like 'Ono, Tane was not a major cult-god of Hiva, but he is firmly attested as one of the great gods and as Atea's brother in the cosmogonic genealogy.
