Nyai Undang is a legendary queen of Ngaju tradition, remembered for her beauty and for the war fought in defence of her river kingdom. When her realm was threatened she was protected by her nephews, the heroes Tambun and Bungai, whose victory forms the climax of the Tetek Tatum narrative. Her story is among the most widely retold of the Ngaju historical legends of the Kahayan and Katingan.
