Gaius Iulius Caesar III

Roman · mortal · roman republic late · mortal

Mortal-floor (Aeneas-Ascanius divine-line annotation through the canonical gens-Iulia eponymic genealogy) Roman senator and praetor (~140-85 BCE). Father of Gaius Iulius Caesar the Dictator and of Iulia Minor (grandmother of Octavian-Augustus). Died suddenly in 85 BCE at Pisa while putting on his shoes — the canonical Suetonius-and-Pliny mors-repentina example. His unexpected death made the 16-year-old future Dictator the head of the gens Iulia.
