Jalang
Semang · deity · primordial / perpetual · Recorded classification
Jalang is a goddess of the northern Semang. Evans records that Jalang and her sister Jamoi, the divine wife better known across Semang groups under the name Manoid, were daughters of Ag-ag, the crow, and that Klang, the hawk, was their brother. Like the other divine grandmothers of Semang cosmology, Jalang lives under the earth and keeps guard over the roots of the stone that supports the heavens, the deep counterpart of the thunder god's realm above.
