Per the canonical Hofmayr 1925 Shilluk-history tradition, Dak's mischievous behavior caused a dispute with Akec's maternal Thuro relatives, forcing Nyikang and his group to depart Thuro and resume the migration northward — making Akec the mother whose family-of-origin is the canonical-narrative occasion for the migration's next phase.
