Dak

Shilluk · quartigod · heroic age · quartigod

Quartigod founding-successor Reth of Shilluk; second Reth after Nyikang's disappearance. Son of Nyikang by Akec, the mortal Thuro woman. The canonical Hofmayr 1925 narrative attributes to Dak a "proclivity for mischief" causing the Thuro dispute that forced the migration's resumption — the canonical-Shilluk migration-narrative trickster-role. Rivalry with elder half-brother Bwor caused Bwor to remain in Bahr el Ghazal and found the Balanda Boor lineage. Established the Shilluk Kingdom's institutional foundations beyond Nyikang's heroic-period founding; every subsequent Reth's patronymic-line traces through the Nyikang-Dak founding-dyad. Per the registry's strict-paternal-criterion tier rules, Dak's descendants register as scions (his children) → subsequent Reths mortal-floor with the Nyikang-spirit-reincarnated annotation per the institutional-spirit-doctrine that frames every Reth from Dak through Reth Kwongo Dak Padiet (1993-present) as Nyikang's spirit reincarnated for the duration of the reign.
