Bwor

Shilluk · quartigod · heroic age · quartigod

Quartigod eldest son of Nyikang; canonical eponymous founder of the Balanda Boor lineage. Per the Balanda Boor canonical-fission tradition, did not get on well with his half-brother Dak; received Nyikang's permission to remain behind in Bahr el Ghazal with his uncles when the migration continued northward. Founded the Balanda Boor lineage by marrying a Bviri woman; the Balanda Boor (subdivided into the Jo Kunam river-people and the Jo Ugot hill-people) speak a Luo dialect very close to Shilluk. The canonical-Shilluk-Balanda fission-narrative is one of the foundational examples of the registry's eponymous-founder-of-a-tribal-group narrative-pattern, paralleling the Greek Heraclidae and Norse Ragnarsson dispersal-genealogies.
