Half-divine twin (or near-twin) of Nyikang; son of Okwa and Nyakaya. Defeated Nyikang in the succession dispute and ruled the southern homeland. The sharpened-stick farewell to Nyikang is the structural-departure-moment of the Shilluk migration narrative — Duwat's gesture frames Nyikang's journey as a death-bearing exile, but Nyikang transforms it into a tool of life. Continued to rule the deathless southern land per some traditions, while Nyikang founded the new Shilluk Kingdom in the north.
