Krimisos
Sicel · deity · pre Greek Sikel Sicani religion (Greco Roman attested) · deity
Krimisos is a river that fathers a city. His stream ran through the territory of Egesta in the Elymian west of Sicily, and the foundation tradition of that city made him the father of its founder-hero by the nymph Segesta — the pattern by which Greek and Sicilian communities alike traced themselves to the water they drank. He is recorded under the Sicel tradition key, which this registry uses for the indigenous Sicilian figures known through Greco-Roman report; the Elymian west had its own identity, and a future Elymian tradition should coordinate with this record rather than duplicate it.
