Kadaw La Sambad is the sun god of the T'boli of the Lake Sebu region in South Cotabato, Mindanao, and the supreme male deity of their pantheon. He and the moon goddess Bulon La Mogoaw form the primordial married couple who inhabit the seventh and highest of the layered heavens. From their union come the seven sons and seven daughters whose intermarriages and exploits constitute the T'boli creation cycle, among them the fire-bearing warrior Cumucul, Sfedat whose body becomes the land, and the demiurge D'wata who shapes the earth and the first people. As the solar half of the cosmic dyad, Kadaw embodies the daylight sky and the apex of celestial authority.
