Trebus Jovius

Trebus Jovius is one of the three gods of the second, inner triad of Iguvium, known only from the Iguvine Tablets. Where the Grabovian triad receives oxen in front of each of the city's three gates, the inner triad receives smaller victims behind them; Trebus Jovius takes three pregnant sows at the Trebulan Gate, the first station of the circuit. His name is usually referred to the Italic word for a dwelling or built structure, and the cult-title Iovius marks him as belonging to the Jovian sphere without making him Jupiter. Nothing in the tablets gives him kin, a consort or a myth: he is a recipient of sacrifice defined by his station in the liturgy.
