Dunne Yakini
Vedda · numen · Vedda traditional religion; continuing · numen
Dunne Yakini is the spirit of a Vedda woman who, when a charging boar could not be brought down by any of the men gathering yams, took up a bow and killed it with the help of her husband. Deified after death, she is invoked in the Bambura Yaka ceremony, where she and her husband's family attend upon the yam-spirit.
