Yachor Mamas, 'Our Mother Manioc Beer,' is the divine embodiment of the fermented manioc drink at the heart of Yanesha feasting and ritual. She is the sister and wife of Yompor Yompere, one of the elder brothers of the sun, and it was in her company that Yompere halted at the stream Opanmaso and was turned to stone. As one of the maternal divinities she stands beside Yachor Arrorr and Yachor Coc in the second, spouse-bearing rank of the pantheon, each mother associated with a cultivated substance essential to Yanesha life.
