Majeogbe

Majeogbe is the one who fought back, and the record of it is precise about the arms used: Gaa's power was understood as juju as much as constitutional, so Majeogbe met him on that ground and won the exchange. It cost him the reign — Gaa's sons held the city whatever state their father was in — but the poison is the reason there was anything left for Abiodun to overthrow two years later. Nigerian popular history gives the credit for Gaa's fall entirely to Abiodun; the sources consulted here are clear that the man Abiodun's allies dragged to the Akesan market had already been paralysed by this king.
