Chobun-pogil, 'Master of the Sea', is the spirit-owner of the sea and the fish and animals within it. With Lebien-pogil (land) and Odzhin-pogil (fresh water) he forms the triad of principal masters of nature who divide the middle world among themselves. He appears in Tundra Yukaghir oral tradition, notably the 'Tale About the Sea-Spirit' that Jochelson recorded from Innokenti Karyakin on the Kolyma tundra in 1895.
