Red Boy
Chinese · deity · mythic · deity
A child demon who cannot be beaten by force and is taken instead — bound with golden rings and made an attendant of the bodhisattva. The registry held Guanyin, who took him; it did not hold him, his father or his mother, which meant the Flaming Mountains sequence, one of the most famous in Chinese literature, had no participants in the corpus at all.
