Younger daughter of the sage-king Yao and, with her elder sister Ehuang, a wife of Shun. The two sisters drowned in the Xiang River in grief at Shun's death and became its goddesses (the Xiang Fei), invoked in the Chuci. Mortal-tier by descent from the mortal Yao; godhood by apotheosis.
