Karoba

Daribi · mortal · Daribi traditional religion; continuing · mortal

Karoba is the dark-skinned daughter whose cry, when Souw's serpent-like member coupled with her, provoked the creator's shame and departure and so precipitated the coming of death. Unlike her sister Yaro, who followed Souw, Karoba stayed on the Bore, and from her the dark-skinned peoples, the Daribi among them, are descended. Sources differ on whether she and Yaro share the single father Souw or only their mother, the widow of the Bore.
