Yaro

Daribi · demigod · Daribi traditional religion; continuing · demigod

Yaro is the light-skinned daughter who followed her father Souw down the river Bore when he departed, and from her descend all light-skinned peoples, while her dark-skinned sister Karoba remained behind. The pairing accounts in Daribi thought for the visible division of humanity and, in tellings shaped by the colonial encounter, for the disparity in wealth and goods between Europeans and the Daribi.
