Duamutef

Duamutef keeps the stomach and his name means 'he who adores his mother', which is a strange thing to call a jar and a nice thing to call a god. Neith watches over him. The assignment of organ to son varies in practice — the pattern given here is the commonest and not the only one — and the cardinal points attached to the four are likewise a scheme the texts apply more tidily than the burials do.
