Hapy (son of Horus)
Egyptian · deity · old kingdom · deity
Two gods, one name, and the registry had the other one. `egyptian_hapi` is the androgynous god of the Nile flood, blue-skinned and heavy-breasted, who makes the inundation; this Hapy is a baboon-headed guardian of a jar of lungs. The names are written the same and the two have nothing else in common. Separating them is the same operation this programme performed on Uttu and Utu in the Mesopotamian pass: where a single name covers two gods, the registry carries two records and says so on both.
