Ramesses VIII

Egyptian · quartigod · new kingdom · quartigod

Quartigod son of Ramesses III; princely name Sethherkhepshef. Seventh pharaoh of the 20th Dynasty (r. c. 1129-1126 BCE), the most obscure of the dynasty, who came to the throne by a lateral succession from his great-nephew Ramesses VII. Named in the Medinet Habu procession of Ramesses III's sons. The only 20th-Dynasty king whose royal tomb is unidentified, though the queens'-valley tomb QV43 was prepared for him while still a prince.
