Quartigod son of Ramesses III by Iset Ta-Hemdjert (probably Syrian-maternal-origin queen). Fifth pharaoh of the 20th Dynasty (r. 1145-1137 BCE), succeeding his nephew Ramesses V. Born c. 1185 BCE — alive at 1172 BCE as a young prince. Reign saw the beginning of the Deir el-Medina community's decline and the consolidation of priestly-queen offices that would characterize the 21st Dynasty. Mummy rediscovered in the KV35 cache by Victor Loret in 1898.
