Catreus

Greek · quartigod · heroic age · quartigod

Eldest son of Minos and Pasiphae; king of Crete after Minos and victim of the oracle of death-by-his-own-child, slain on Rhodes by his unrecognizing son Althaemenes. Through his daughter Aerope (given to Nauplius and married to Atreus) he is grandfather of Agamemnon and Menelaus; his funeral is the errand that draws Menelaus from Sparta in the Helen tradition. Authored as quartigod by the descent math (Minos demigod 0.5 + unregistered Pasiphae as mortal 0, /2 = 0.25).
