Daughter of Epaphus and the naiad Memphis, eponym of the African land of Libya. By Poseidon she bore the twin brothers Belus and Agenor, from whom flow the great genealogical lines of Greek myth: through Belus the Argive line (Danaids and ultimately Heracles), through Agenor the Phoenician, Cretan and Theban houses (Cadmus, Europa, Phoenix). She is the Libya named in the registry Epaphus entry, the central pivot of his far-reaching descent.
